How we teach

I’m Aleksei, the founder of Kindel Rool. Let me walk you through how our category B course works: where it starts, who teaches you and what we count as the result. No sales talk, just how it is.

What we count as the result

Passing the test and getting the licence is not the whole story. For us the result is when, after the course, you drive calmly on your own, in an unfamiliar district and in rush hour, and feel sure of yourself behind the wheel. The test is the check of that. So we teach you as a future fellow road user, rather than drilling you for the test.

We do not promise that you pass at the first attempt. We promise to do everything so that you are ready for it.

1. A free trial lesson, while you are still deciding

The lesson takes place on the Kadaka training ground, with no traffic, just you, the car and the instructor. It lasts 45 to 60 minutes. We check the car together, set the seat and the mirrors, talk about blind spots and where to look while driving. Then you make your first manoeuvres. The trial lesson commits you to nothing.

2. Theory at your own pace

You study the theory online whenever it suits you, plus three webinars. The contract is signed digitally, there is nowhere you need to come to.

We start driving once 30 % of the theory is done, that is the first three chapters. Starting earlier is not worth it: the lesson would go on explaining theory, and that is your time and money wasted.

3. Driving lessons: from the basics to the city

A lesson lasts 45 minutes, we meet at Kadaka tee 56a. As soon as the basics of controlling the car are clear, we go out onto streets with light traffic. Calmly, without stress.

From there we drive in different districts of Tallinn and deliberately do not repeat the same streets. In real traffic you have to cope everywhere. We do not drill test routes, we teach you to understand the logic of traffic. A memorised route falls apart at the first diversion.

The course price includes 30 driving lessons, and among them the skid training, the night driving training and the school’s driving exam. The first aid course is included too.

At the end of every lesson the instructor tells you what went well and what you will practise next time. So you always know where you stand.

We recommend driving twice a week. A long gap between lessons takes your confidence away, and we see that more often than a pace that is too fast. By law the course cannot be done in less than four weeks. Usually our learners take from seven weeks to two or three months, depending on the pace you choose.

4. The school exam and the state test

Once the theory is done and the lessons are driven, you take the school’s driving exam. It runs the same way as at the Transport Administration, so that the real test holds no surprises for you. After it we mark the course complete, and only then can the state test be booked. Your data reaches the traffic register by the next working day at the latest.

You take the state test in a Transport Administration car. Everyone pays the state fees (103 €) themselves.

5. If it did not work out the first time

It happens, to strong learners too. You are not left alone with it. We go through the test report together, free of charge, and practise exactly what the points were taken off for. If you need it, you take continued training: two driving lessons with analysis, cheaper than the standard price for our own learners. On Premium those two lessons are already in the price.

6. Who teaches you, and in what

Our instructors work in our school, on the school’s staff. We do not hand learners over to outside private instructors, and we do not sell someone else’s service under our name. When you choose a driving school, ask who will actually teach you: a member of the school’s staff or a private instructor in their own car. On Classic you choose who you drive with and when. On Premium one instructor takes you through the whole course, and if it does not click, you can change. Nobody shouts or belittles here. We learn together, calmly and with respect.

You drive a school training car, manual or automatic. Our cars are used only for teaching. If an instructor is ill or a car is being serviced, the school will do everything it can so that your training does not stop.

7. Classic or Premium

Kindel Rool Classic (1390 €) is the whole compulsory course: 30 driving lessons, theory, first aid, skid training, night driving training and the school exams.

Kindel Rool Premium (1990 €) is the same course with more preparation: 38 lessons, four of them in the districts where the state test most often takes place, a mock test with a different instructor and two lessons right before the test. 8. A price that does not change

The contract price is final. Training ground fees and the school exams are already in it, only the state fees and the health certificate come separately. If after the first driving lesson you realise this is not your school, we refund your money, except 50 € for theory. If you pay for the whole course in one payment, you get two free driving lessons right before the state test. You can pay in instalments, and you can start with the theory alone.
